5 Reasons why YOU need a bag for your Stand Up Paddle Board

Stand Up Paddle board bags and covers are a one of those things that everyone is a little bit un-sure about.  We have complied a list of 5 reasons as to why you need a bag to protect your stand up paddle board;

1. Heat

The hot weather can see boards getting damaged in all different ways.  Because boards are made with a foam core (similar to the stuff found in bean bags but fused together), we end up with tiny little air pockets in this foam, which when left in the heat will lead to the foam expanding.  This can cause de-laminations and different problems with boards.  A cover is designed to help insulate and keep that board at a cool temperature.  NOTE: better quality board are made with better foam therefore drastically recusing the possibility of this happening.

2. Dust & Scratches

For general storage and the day-to-day transport of your board, a bag is designed to keep anything and everything off you shiny new toy!  Dust build-up on a board sitting in a garage for a period is all to common, combine this with a new white deck grip and it will end in some serious cleaning. The second major problem is human error.  We all make mistakes and no matter how careful we are, chances are, if you don’t have  a bag you will inevitably get a few scratches on your beloved board. Save yourself the hassle and get yourself a bag!

3. UV Rays

We all want our board to look minted for as long as possible!  leaving it in the Sun in the direct UV is NOT the way to do this.  A cover is also designed to keep the harmful UV’s  off your board ensuring that your board holds it colour and never fades.

4. Stone Chips

When driving with a Stand Up Paddle board on the roof of your car it is a horrible feeling when you hear a stone bounce off the rail of you freshly polished stick, which often results in those nastily little paint chips.  Never let this happen again, simply ensure you slip that board into a cover before putting on the roof and you’re good to go!

5. Storage

Storage is a big factor for almost everyone with such large boards.  The one most important thing when storing a stand up paddle board is to ensure that your board is well protected.  Most boards are usually stored in a  garage where we also have cars, kids, pets and so many other things that could potentially harm your love.  The best way to ensure the safety of your board and everything around it is simply a cover!

*NOTE.: ensure you always place your board in its cover totally dry and store in cool dry place, regardless of a bag or not.
